THE LOCATION
The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is conveniently located on the south side of Marshalltown, Iowa within proximity of restaurants, hotels/motels and most local cemeteries.

THE FUNERAL HOME
The Mitchell Family Funeral Home has all one-floor accessibility which is important for individuals with limited mobility. Other amenities include a children’s room and and a lounge area for luncheons or gatherings.

We recently completed a new addition to our funeral home. The addition features a room devoted to the history of funeral service. It is open during visitations as well as normal office hours. Many of the historical items featured are from the Central Iowa region. We have also been privileged to acquire a 1941 Oldsmobile hearse and an 1887 Rock Falls horse-drawn hearse. We encourage community members to visit our facilities and view these wonderful funeral treasures of the past.

THE GARDENS
The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is proud to offer a wonderful on-site garden. Guests find the garden allows them to enjoy the gift of nature and provides a place of peace and comfort.

The garden, which is located at the southwest corner of the funeral home, is in memory of Craig Jacobson. Craig was a special friend to the Mitchell family because he underwent radiation the same time as Sue. In his own special sense of humor, Craig told the Mitchell family he could wait to pass until the building was done. As soon as construction on the Mitchell Family Funeral Home was complete, but before all the furniture had arrived, Craig Jacobson was called to God. Craig’s service was the first funeral held in the new building and his wife Deb planted day lilies and shrubbery in his memory. The Mitchell family treasures Craig’s memory daily and the garden is an appropriate way to remember their nature-loving friend.

The garden on the far west side of the funeral home is in memory of Carroll Fisher, a loving father to the Mitchell family. He enjoyed the outdoors and a garden is a fitting tribute. The only thing missing is his fishing pole and boat. The flagpole on the east side was erected in memory of Carroll as well.

MEMORIALS
Families who have attended services at the funeral home have touched the Mitchell family in a meaningful way. Some have left plants for the lobby, the Anselme family gave the picture of a covered bridge that resides in the chapel and the Carol Glommen family kindly provided the single chair painting that graces the hospitality room wall. All of these gifts mean so much to the Mitchell family, as we treasure the relationships the funeral home has sewn.
